Life after losing a child

Alesha Penland sharing hope after the loss of her son Lincoln. I love her perspective on forgiveness and moving forward. Thank you Alesha for being brave today and sharing your heart with me.

Wow, thank you for sharing your story. This is every parents worst nightmare and to have him pass under such terrible circumstances is unbearable to think about. I am so grateful that your story also includes light and hope and beauty, because sometimes when I see tragedy, I am not so sure it’s there.

I have one question. You mentioned that you know Lincoln has forgiven the person who did this. May I ask how you know? I’m not asking out of doubt...moreso out of wanting to know how those on the other side are still connected to us. Do you feel them? Are they close by? Can they tell us (in whatever way they can) how they are and what they are doing? Do you still feel that parent-child connection to them?

Sorry it’s taken so long to respond! Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it! In my belief system we believe in a life after this one, where we can live with our loved ones that have passed on before us.

I do know that Lincoln is happy and that he is busy doing the Lord’s work. And yes I believe that he has forgiven this person. From experiences that are really personal to me, I know that he is in a better place and that he is happy. I cannot wait for the day that we will be reunited and I’ll be able to hold him in my arms again. I believe both in Heavenly angels and angels here on earth. Our loved ones are closer than we think and although we may not be able to see them, they are there. I’d be more than happy to talk to you if you have any more questions. You can message me on Instagram at alcpen. Thank you!!
